Introduction:

When lab results are received and entered by the nurse, an alert is sent to the doctor for approval. When the doctor views the results, they may need a number of tasks to be performed to approve the results entered. This action list needs to be communicated to the concerned staff. The action could be, for example, 'Inform Patient' immediately or repeat the tests.

Field Descriptions:

Action: Select the required action from the list box. Actions are defined under the option: Settings > Configuration > Masters > Column: Groups > Group Types

Send Urgent Message: Upon selecting this option, the recipient(s) to whom the message is addressed receives a prompt of the Action to be performed as soon as the recipient user logs in. Also, the email sent shows the status as 'U' (Urgent) in the recipient's Inbox.

To: Select whom the message is to be sent to; choose between Users and Roles, and the Search list displays the respective values. By default, the Users option is selected.
It is possible to send emails to multiple recipients; the values are comma-separated.


Self: Select this option to send a copy of the email to your Inbox as well.

Inform Patient: Select this option to send a copy of the email to the patient to whom the lab order belongs.

Note: This option is visible only if the clinic has a Patient Portal.

Previous Notes: All relevant communication is tracked and displayed in this field. It is a read-only field and cannot be modified.

Notes: Type the necessary messages or select standard messages by clicking the Search button.

Approve: The lab result from the main page is approved if this is checked.

Send Message Select this option to send the message in the form of an email to the recipients selected in the To field.

Review: Select this option to add the contents of the Notes field to the Lab Result Review.

Add to Patient Medical Records: Select this option to add the contents of the Notes field to the patient's records in Patient Notes.
