| It is likely that the patient's referring doctor has
sent a copy of his lab order results to the clinic. Although the clinic
had not ordered the lab order, the results could form an important part
of the patient's medical history. Hence, this also needs to be stored as
a part of PrognoCIS. Click on this option to pop up a Search List for selecting existing external labs (Non-Reviewed), or the user may click the Add New button to enter a new external lab. The Order No. is generated based on the prefix and length in the properties, Lab Params > lab.ext_orderno.prefix and Lab Params > lab.ext_orderno.length respectively, as for a lab order. Typically, the user would use a different prefix to differentiate the external lab from the clinic's lab orders. Results Received: The date as seen on the Results page. Patient: Use the Search button to select a patient. Note that only those patients who have at least one encounter are included in the list. (This is because a lab order has to be associated with an encounter). The lab order is associated with the last encounter of the selected patient. Doctor: This is the primary doctor of the selected patient. Results Tab Click on the button to select test orders (including panel tests). The Results Tab now shows tests grouped by category. If one of the tests is a panel, it is shown in bold, followed by all the individual tests (indented) constituting the panel. It is also likely that two panels were ordered, and that there were some common tests. These tests will be shown under each panel, and as such might seem to be duplicates. All other fields are identical to those explained in Lab Results. Type, Location, Notes: These three columns will be displayed only if the results are imported from HL7. Note that for the Attach Tab, the Attach button is disabled until the external lab order is saved for the first time. Save: Results can be approved only if: a) The Remarks Tab has an entry b) The Attach Tab has an attachment c) Results are entered for tests. On saving External Lab Order Results, if the logged-in user is a doctor or has approval rights, the status is set to Complete. If a nurse without approval rights enters results, the status is set to Results Received and an alert is sent to the doctor so that the doctor can approve it. If the nurse has approval rights, the status is set to Complete, and only a notification is sent to the doctor to inform them. |
